Monday, 11 May 2009
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) losing streak continued as Delhi Daredevils defeated them by seven wickets in the match played at Johannesburg on Sunday.
This is the eighth straight loss for Knight Riders in last 10 matches.
Gautam Gambhir, who is captaining Delhi in absence of Virender Sehwag, won the toss and put Knight Riders into bat.
KKR had a disastrous start with Ashish Nehra claiming wickets of Brendon McCullum and Brad Hodge in the very first over.
Other batsmen too failed to provide any resistance against the Delhi bowlers, with three of them getting out for zero.
However, an elegant knock by Sourav Ganguly (44) and a rapidfire 39 by Ajit Agarkar at the end of the innings helped KKR reach 123.
Daredevils began their reply in a solid fashion with both openers Gautam Gambhir (18) and David Warner (36) putting on a partnership of 53 runs.
After Gambhir's exit , DeVilliers scored a quick 40 off 32 balls.
Daredevils now top the chart with 14 points in its kitty.
Amit Mishra was adjudged man of the match for his three wicket haul.
