The
team representing the city of Jaipur and state of Rajasthan in the
Indian Premier League has been named as the Rajasthan Royals. The franchisee of this team has been bought in the IPL auction by Emerging Media Group which has Manoj Badale, Lachlan Murdoch and Suresh Chellaram as owners of the team. Fraser Castellino is the CEO of the team and Shane Warne is the coach for the team.
This team has been surprisingly low key in the auctions conducted for the IPL. In fact the owners were even penalised for not meeting the minimum level in the auctions. This team does not have any icon player. This helped the team in having a lot of cap space to buy more
players. The highest bidding made by the owners was for Mohammad Kaif, who was bought at the cost of $675,000.
The team will be captained by Shane Warne who was bought at US$ 450,000. The players in the team are Graeme Smith, Yusuf Pathan, Kamran Akmal, Munaf Patel, Justin Langer, Younis Khan, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Shane Watson, Sohail Tanvir, etc. Local players like Anoop Revandkar and under-19 players like Ravindra Jadeja and Taruwar Kohli have also been taken in.
