Indian Premier League Structure

Indian Premier League is big leap in the world of cricket that has been initiated by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) in a reactionary approach in response to the ICL, a venture of the Essel Group. Structure of Indian Premier League is based upon the Twenty20 cricket matches that have caught up everyone’s attention.  Indian premier league structure follows a format of 16 players each in specific teams. The number of international players is yet to be finalised.   There would be a total of 8 teams, which would be backed by their respective Franchise. The number of the team is likely to increase in number with the tournament gaining popularity.

Some of the pre-allocated players are inclusive of Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh, and Sachin Tendulkar would play for their respective state teams. This is to say, that these players would not be auctioned for other teams. Besides the players, even the teams were auctioned out, which attracted names from the glam and business including Vijay Mallya, Preity Zinta, Ness Wadia, Anil Dhirubhai Ambani, and Shahrukh Khan. These personalities are proud bidders of the esteemed teams of Bangalore, Chandigarh, Mumbai, and Kolkata respectively. 

The Indian Premier League would debut in April 2008, beginning from the 18th day of the month.  The matches would span over 44 days, with 2 matches on a daily basis. These matches would be conducted at 5p.m. under the lights. This would amount to about 59 matches in total that would be played in the span of 44 days.
