One of the
teams which have been under a lot of media coverage is the Kolkata Knight Riders. This team is representing Kolkata and has been bought by Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan with Juhi Chawla and Jai Mehta in partnership. A whopping $75.09 million were shelled out by them to buy the franchise rights for the team.
The symbol of the team is a Knight Helmet and the official colours of the jersey are black and gold which signify Ma Kali and the spirit of winning respectively. Even a theme song has been created which goes like Korbo, Lorbo, Jitbo Re in Bengali meaning “We will do it, Fight for it, Win it.”
The team managed to get Sourav Ganguly as the Icon
player for the team and the captain. Other players in the team
are Chris Gayle who is an all rounder, wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum, Ricky Ponting etc. The bowling attack has Shoaib Akhtar, Ishant Sharma, Umar Gul. Ajit Agarkar, Murali Karthik, Tatenda Taibu, Ranadeb Bose, Iqbal Abdulla, Siddarth KaulSalman Butt, Mohammad Hafeez and David Hussey are also a part of the team. The team will be coached by John Buchanan.
