The
team which will be representing Mumbai in the
Indian Premier League has been named as Mumbai Indians. The rights for the franchise of the team have been bought by Reliance India Limited. The amount that has been shelled out for the rights was the maximum of all the teams and a total of $111.9 million was paid for the next ten years.
A Sudarshan Chakra with the name of the team is chosen to be the symbol. The official colour is blue. The captain for the team and the Icon
player as well is Sachin Tendulkar and the team will be coached by Lalchand Rajput.
The team managed quite a number of great players in the world of cricket. In addition to Sachin, there is Sanath
Jayasuriya who was fetched for the highest price of US$ 975,000. Harbhajan Singh follows behind with a price of US$ 850,000. Robin Uthappa fetched a price of US$800,000. Dilhara Fernando, Shaun Pollock, Lasith Malinga, Loots Bosman, and Ashwell Prince have also been taken up by the owners. Ajinkya Rahane and Abhishek Nayar from Mumbai, Yogesh Takawale from Maharashtra and Pinal Shah from Baroda have also been taken up out of the auctions.
